FAQ
Do I need a referral from a physician?
No. Ohio law allows for direct access to physical therapy services.
Do you take my insurance?
In order to prioritize your health needs and provide the highest quality of care, Be Free PT is an out-of-network clinic. Unfortunately, insurance companies have the power to dictate what conditions we can treat, how we treat, how much time we treat for, how many visits you get, etc. We want to put you first instead of being limited to what the insurance company approves. This model allows us to provide personalized care to help you meet your goals.
We encourage you to contact your insurance company for both a quote on your physical therapy benefits and to receive a general claim form to send for reimbursement.
What can I expect on my first visit?
You will be evaluated by a physical therapist in a private room. This involves the physical therapist taking a thorough history and listening to your medical concerns and a physical examination which may involve strength testing, testing of your flexibility, and hands-on palpation of muscles and connective tissues.
Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing.
Do I need to have an internal exam if I have a pelvic floor issue?
No! An internal exam is never necessary. It is only ever done with your consent. It helps to give the physical therapist more specific information on your pelvic floor but it is not a required part of therapy.
Should I come to my appointment if I am on my period?
Yes! Internal work is only performed when you are comfortable with it. There are no contraindications to working internally while you are menstruating; it is choice that is always up to you. There are many other things to work on that do not involve an internal exam. Many treatments can also help with period cramping and pain.
How long will I need physical therapy?
This will depend on your diagnoses and how long your symptoms have been occurring. On your evaluation, your physical therapist will give you a recommendation on how many visits she thinks is appropriate for you. Most patients need 6-12 visits, however you could need less or more than this.
Should I bring my partner?
Spouses and partners are welcome, but it is completely up to you whether they join you or not.
What if I cannot afford physical therapy?
A limited number of sliding scale and pro bono visits are available. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions at Info@BeFreeCLE.com.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit cards, checks, FSA, and HSA cards. Payment is due in full at the time of service.
